ST. Luke’s Episcopal Church Women
The Fourth Saturday Feeding Ministry is a free lunch program offered in the parish hall and is supported by donations and the Daughters of the King in November. The ministry is important as it fills a gap since no other entity provides a meal in the area on this day. St. Luke’s sponsors the program during the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. St. Martin’s provides meals during the months of February, April, June, August October and December.
The Feeding and Bingo Ministry is a monthly service that is offered on the second Saturday of each month. The ministry provides hot meals that are low in sodium, sugar, carbohydrates, and fats. Clients are served fresh vegetables and fruits. The ministry provides free toiletries as gifts during the bingo games. The ministry serves an average of 150 meals per month at the parish hall and provides meals to those who are not physically able to attend the feeding due to health concerns. In conjunction with the feeding and bingo, free blood pressure and diabetes screening and HIV testing and medication counseling are provided. Volunteers are engaged from the parish, Allen University and citizens in the community.
